Robert Bothman was presented with the Leading Citizen of the year award by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Silicon Valley on October 26, 2006.  The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Silicon Valley were able to complete their new community sports field at the Smythe Club House on the East Side of San Jose due in large part to Robert Bothman's contribution. The facility was opened for the community in June 2006.

The Boys and Girls Clubs provide a learning environment for children to not only enhance their academic development but be involved in club activities and programs that prepare them to succeed in life.  This orginization was founded in 1944 by Harry Slonaker and a group of concerned citizens.  The organization truly provides a positive place for kids to learn and grow as individuals but more importantly as a community.
