Pervious concrete allows an owner to develop more of their land while saving money on infrastructure, lighting and fees while allowing the natural recharging of aquifers to continue, rather than water being discharged into the ocean. The material acts as a natural physical filter, and is a sustainable product which contributes LEED points and helps to reduce the urban heat island effect.

Drought and decreased ground water concerns are driving more Cities and Counties to mandate less and less impermeable surface area and increasing amounts of pervious surfacing.  Pervious concrete, or no-fines concrete, as it is sometimes called because of the lack of sand in the mixture, is a perfect solution.

At the Ocean Honda dealership in Soquel, CA RAB recently completed the largest pervious concrete installation in Santa Cruz County history. The 26,000 square feet installation was designed to function as a storm water detention system and allow all water from the building and paved areas to flow through the concrete and into an engineered 4 foot deep drainage rock basin and to then be discharged gradually into the groundwater system.
