Site Development and Heavy Engineering

Iron Horse Trail & Bridge

Walnut Creek, California

Owner: County of Contra Costa

Project Description:

Multi-span pedestrian bridge comprised of a steel arch main span with a composite steel, concrete bridge deck, and concrete approach structures founded on cast in drilled hole piling. Unique cantilevered and angled structural concrete support foundation and extreme tolerances made for a challenging process. Custom designed and engineered forming systems were utilized to accomplish the angles, supporting structural components and required tolerances. The systems were designed and constructed at Bothman’s home facility and assembled on site. BIM and CNC technology were incorporated to maintain tolerances in fabrication and assembly.
