Fallon Sports Park: Photo of the Week Submission

Jun 21, 2018 - Dublin, CA

A beautiful photo of the towering "Elatus" sculpture and an aerial video of its setting, the Fallon Sports Park in Dublin, were submitted to Patch from Valerie Hamilton.

"The photo is of the breathtaking 'Elatus Sculpture,' by Heath Satow. This is one of my favorite areas of the park," she wrote. "Surrounding its concrete pedestal are sandblasted bird patterns, and benches to meditate, relax and watch the sunset. Who says concrete is not artwork?"

Hamilton works for Robert A. Bothman Construction, which in April completed Phase 2 of the massive park, home to sports fields and game courts, picnic spots, concession facility and play area.

Elatus is a 32-foot-tall, mirror-polished, stainless steel sculpture. "Loosely referencing the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the highly polished mirror-finished surface of Elatus expresses athletic triumph; the celebration of joy and glory – when game and athlete become one," according to the creator. To see the sculpture in person, the entrance to Fallon Sports Park is on Lockhart Street between Gleason Drive and Central Parkway.
