After a 50-year anticipation, Pacifica is finally home to a comprehensive sports complex, a dream actualized following a $55M school facilities bond passage in 2018. Hosting baseball, softball, and soccer fields on hard-wearing, maintenance-friendly synthetic turf, the Ortega Elementary School playing field is a testament of collaborative efforts of local sports associations, school district leaders, and community officials. Pacifica School District Board President Laverne Villalobos concurred: “Our community allocated funds and set a vision for prioritizing children’s wellbeing and learning through a range of physical improvements to our public schools. This sports field will be a community asset for many years to come.”
